CHRISTMAS DECORATION STORAGE MADE EASY

The holiday season has arrived and with it comes Christmas ornaments shopping and afternoons of home decorating fun. You want to decorate your tree with new ornaments, and you've settled on a certain colour scheme. You've spent so much time and effort decorating your home for the holidays that you want everything to look perfect, from the tree to the garland to the LED fairy lights and the Christmas candles. The process of setting everything up is both enjoyable and satisfying.

However, Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year's Eve come and go, and then it's the first day of the new year and everyone's back at work. Taking down all the decorations is a tedious task. In order to make the festive season as stress-free as possible for you, we would like to offer you some helpful advice on how to store your decorations once January comes.

Individually wrap fragile pieces

Wrapping special baubles, ornaments, glass ornaments, and other fragile pieces separately is essential to avoid any accidents. We would advise you to reuse some of the bubble wrap and protection wrappers you got from online Christmas shopping! If you do not have anything to reuse, bubble wrap, paper wrap, polystyrene, and egg boxes will all be excellent options.

Use dividers

This advice is closely linked to the previous one. In order to reduce damage, even more, we advise you to consider putting dividers in the boxes in which you store your items in. Indeed, they are rather inexpensive and can significantly increase the safety of your individually wrapped goods. It will also save time when it comes to putting them up the next year as everything will be better organised.

Dismantle bigger decoration pieces

Larger Christmas decorations, like your tree, may be less likely to get broken during storage. But please be patient and methodical as you disassemble the larger ornaments we've asked you to bring. Reducing the likelihood of damage over the course of a year can be accomplished by disassembling and securing these things. Keep your holiday decorations organised by keeping the larger ones separated.

Keep a list and mark your boxes

Organisation is as crucial during Christmas as it is the rest of the year. In order to make it as easy as possible for you to find all of your different items next year, we would advise you to mark your boxes with specific information like “Christmas decorations”, “fragile”, “Baubles” or "be used first” in order to make the unpacking process as smooth as possible. You should also make sure to have a list of the content of each box handy so you know exactly which items are in what box, so you do not have to dig around to find what you are looking for.
